Tom Dixon - Swirl small vase

A new vision of post-modern Italian aesthetics. The pop sensibility of Swirl is created by a series of geometric shapes placed on top of each other thus forming multi-dimensional and functional sculptures. During this particular production, dust residues created during marble extraction processes are recycled and combined with colored pigments and resin to create blocks of materials that can then be cut and transformed into extraordinary objects. Stem, Small and Medium vases are inspired by Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangements. Anchored at the base, these cylindrical vases allow the flowers to enhance and fill the space.

In the late 90s Tom became Creative Director at Habitat and rejuvenated the brand while maintaining Terence Conran’s vision of enriching everyday life through simple, modern design. In 2001, Tom was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen for his services to British design. In 2014 he was awarded ‘Designer of The Year’ at Maison & Objet, Paris. In 2019, he received a silver medal for Best Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and in the same year, was awarded the prestigious London Design Medal at the British Land Celebration of Design Awards. Tom is one of the industry’s most appreciated British designers and is internationally recognised as a highly original talent.
