Rosenthal - Zauberfloete Vase 20 cm

Snakes, fowlers, princes and queens of the night: Bjørn Wiinblad has translated Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute" into a porcelain collection. Detailed and lovingly crafted figures, flowers, plants and ornaments adorn the surface of the precious porcelain, in the form of unglazed reliefs. Entire scenes are depicted on the very wide edges of the plates, thanks to which the designer has put his experience as a set designer and costume designer to good use. Magic flute uses an extremely thin and light material, an exciting combination of matte and glossy surfaces and a finely drawn relief.

Bjørn Wiinblad

Bjørn Wiinblad was born in Copenhagen in 1918 and passed away in 2006. He studied painting and illustration with Jörgensen at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen. During this period he discovered his love for ceramics.
Bjørn Wiinblad was inspired by music, theater and the world of fairy tales. He designed, among other things, ceramics in various techniques, posters and postcards, theater and ballet productions, but also bronzes, furniture as well as fabrics and wallpapers. Through a multitude of forms of services and gift items, he has decisively shaped the fantasy-oriented part of Rosenthal studio-line. Bjørn Wiinblad's works are exhibited in numerous museums and special exhibitions. He lived and worked in his “Blue House” near Copenhagen.

Rosenthal

A porcelain and tableware company founded in 1879. Rosenthal products fascinate with their design, functionality, quality and innovative capacity. In 1879, returning from an experience in the United States of America, Philipp Rosenthal decided to open a porcelain decoration workshop in Bavaria. In 1907 the company branded every product with its own name. The following year he bought Thomas, a brand later addressed to a youth audience. In 1950 his son Philip took on responsibility of the company, which in 1961 inaugurated Rosenthal Studio-Line, a brand related to projects and collaborations with celebrated artists, architects, and designers. With the inauguration of Studio-Line, starting from 60s started collaborations with Raymond Loewy and Richard Latham (Forma 2000)Tapio Wirkkala (Variation, Century)[], Mario Bellini (Cupola), Luigi Colani (Drop), Walter Gropius (TAC), Bjørn Wiinblad (Magic Flute)] and Timo Sarpaneva (Suomi) began in the 1960s. In 1993 he began his collaboration with Versace, whose Avedon's shot for the advertising campaign with Sylvester Stallone and Claudia Schiffer remains famous. When the designer died, the collaboration continued with his sister Donatella (Les Rêves Byzantins). Meanwhile, other artists and designers participate in the creation of design lines, such as Marcello Morandini, Jasper Morrison (Moon), Patricia Urquiola (Landscape).
