Jasper Morrison
Jasper Morrison was born in London in 1959 and grew up in New York in the United States and he attended Bryanston School. He graduated in Design from Kingston Polytechnic Design School in 1982 and earned two masters degrees in Design: one from Kingston Polytechnic Design School itself in 1982, the other one from the Royal College of Art in London in 1985. He also studied at the Hochschule der Künste (hdk) in Berlin.
Known for thinking outside the box, Jasper Morrison is one of the most successful industrial designers of the last decades. Along with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he called the term "super normal", which in his opinion answers the question of what should be "good design".
In his work, he strives to create good examples of sober, useful and responsible design.
He worked for Alessi, Alias, Cappellini (for which he created the sofa Three Sofa De Luxe), FLOS, FSB, MAGIS, Rosenthal, Rowenta, SCP, Furniture, Vitra, Lamy (fountain pens), Schiffini.
Morrison also developed several projects in collaboration with Vitra. Among the many are the All Plastic chair, the Soft Modular sofa and the HAL family of chairs. His drawings are represented in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and in other important museum collections around the world.
