Artemide - Table lamp Mendori Lampada da Tavolo Mendori Longho Design Palermo

"IN-EI" in Japanese means "shadow, shading, shading". This new process was developed by Jun Mitani using a mathematical program with three-dimensional geometric formulas. " 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE" is a brilliant method of creating clothes and is an example of what can be achieved by research into textile materials and technologies.
IN-EI ISSEY MIYAKE was born from the encounter between Artemide’s expertise in the world of light and the innovative approach of the Reality Lab. towards materials and design; created by Artemide is a collection of hanging lamps, table lamps and floor lamps; their shadows created using mathematical principles, in 2 or 3 sizes, are crossed by subtle and beautiful shades of light.
The inimitable folds, which determine the plastic shapes and the solidity of the lamps, are made with an original technology, created by Issey Miyake.
Thanks to the recycled material they are made of, which has a higher luminous transparency than paper; these lamps perfectly maintain their shape without requiring any internal structure.
The bending process, in fact, creates sufficiently solid statuary volumes, which can be remodelled without problems, when they are not used they can be stored folded.

Issey Miyake

Issey Miyake founded the Miyake Design Studio in 1970 and began presenting collections in Paris in 1973. Miyake’s exploration of the space created between the body and the tissue that surrounds it has evolved, always starting from a single piece of fabric. Miyake has constantly looked to the future and the next stage of design, whether it is the functional and versatile series "PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE" (1993-) or the series "A-POC" (A Piece of Cloth/ 1998-), which introduced a single process in which continuous rolls of fabric, texture and clothing could be made from a single piece of yarn.
Today, Miyake works with his research and development team called Reality Lab to explore new possibilities to do things and build on the distinctive features of "regenerative" materialsalways attentive to the need for research and development of materials that address our depleted natural resources and the environment.

Reality Lab.

A research and development team led by Issey Miyake and two staff members, Manabu Kikuchi (textile engineer) and Sachiko Yamamoto (technical engineer) and composed of a group of designers and model engineers, some of them young. The team was formed in 2007. It is a team based on the principle of collaboration and teamwork. Their goal is, through the research and development of materials and techniques, to explore the future of the realization of objects, from clothing to industrial products. Always try to create products that reflect what people need and find new ways to stimulate creative production in Japan.
