The Unterlinden family has been extended with new versions based on its characteristic head made of die-cast aluminium or brass which has a different finish each time given by the natural oxidation process of the metal that is stopped and fixed by means of a transparent finish.

Founded in Basilea in 1978, Herzog & de Meuron is a partnership led by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron together with Christine Binswanger, Ascan Mergenthaler, Stefan Marbach, Esther Zumsteg and Jason Frantzen. The studio has designed a wide range of projects, from the small scale of a private home to the large scale of urban design. Awards include the Pritzker Architecture Prize (USA) in 2001, the Royal Gold Medal of the RIBA (UK), the Praemium Imperiale (Japan), both in 2007, and the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (USA) in 2014.
