Enzo Mari

Born in Novara in 1932. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Incidentally, since the fifties he started an intense artistic activity, with exhibitions in galleries and museums of contemporary art. At the same time, he began his design activity in the field of personal formal research. Subsequently in collaboration with numerous industries, in the fields of graphics, publishing, industrial products and exhibition design. Characteristic of his work is the continuous research and experimentation of new forms and meanings of the product, in contrast with the traditional patterns of design. His unique position as an artist-designer is documented in publications dedicated to his work, as in interventions in important institutions dedicated to his work. The presidency of the ADI from 1976 to 1979 is a clear proof of the recognition of the artist. He won the Compasso d'Oro award three times, while his works and objects are present in the collections of several contemporary art museums. A large personal exhibition was dedicated to him in 1983 by the "Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione" of the University of Parma, where the 8,500 drawings and drawings from his archive, donated by him to the CSAC, are preserved. In addition, his activity is also focused on research and design for urban furniture (Municipality of Milan, arrangement of the Piazza del Duomo). Teaching also characterizes his career, with lectures and cycles of lectures in Italy and abroad, including courses held at the Institute of Art History of the University of Parma and the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Milan.

Giancarlo Fassina

After graduating in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, his work soon specialized in the design of lighting fixtures.  He collaborates with the most important companies in the sector. Light is his job, in every form and expression. There are many projects for exhibitions and museums. Attention to every detail, up to the study of shadows, angles and exposures. Giancarlo Fassina, creator together with Michele De Lucchi of the Ptolemy of Artemis, won, with this light, the Compasso d'Oro in 1989.
