Artemide - Vitruvio suspension lamp brass

Vitruvio is a family of lamps in which mechanical intelligence becomes an aesthetic expression. An ingenious mechanism inspired by watchmaking allows the insertion of three metal rods inside the sphere, thus forming the structure that supports the glass globe. The movable rods open inside the diffuser and thanks to the extreme precision of the interlocking of the geometries and the balance of the weights support the glass sphere both when it is facing up in the given versions table and ground that when it is facing down in the suspension. Even in the loudspeaker the coincidence between function and aesthetics is total. The transparent glass is blown with a shape dictated by an optical intelligence. Horizontal relief lines prevent direct vision of the source, limit glare and diffuse light more evenly. It is a synthesis of tradition and innovation, of the ancient knowledge of glass craftsmanship interpreted with a technological perspective that looks to the future. Glass and structure are two free elements, locked only by a simple mechanical gesture easily reversible, the optical system generates a comfortable light with a very high efficiency, the diffuser is obtained by a single process, all production and maintenance aspects are calibrated to achieve a perfectly sustainable product.

Atelier Oï

Atelier oï was founded in 1991 by Aurel Aebi, Armand Louis and Patrick Reymond in La Neuveville, Switzerland. The design of the atelier aims to clear the boundaries between the different areas of design and to emphasize the transversality of disciplines. International projects vary from architecture, to interiors, to product design, to scenography. Therefore multidisciplinarity, team spirit and close relationship with the material are in fact the basis of the creative philosophy of atelier oï.  One of the main characteristics of atelier oï is experimentation. The project was born from an intuitive and emotional relationship in the processing of different materials. Atelier oï projects have received international awards and recognitions.
