Barovier&Toso - Palmyra suspension lamp

Calvi Brambrilla

Fabio Calvi was born in Pavia in 1969. After studying at the Politecnico di Milano and the Brunel University of West London, graduated in Architecture in 1996. He collaborated with Gianfranco Frattini and later with Ferruccio Laviani, and then opened his own studio in 2004 with the project of the personal photographer Albert Watson at the Rotonda della Besana. For eight years he was art director of all Flos stands, events and stores.

Paolo Brambilla was born in Lecco in 1973, studied at the Politecnico di Milano and the University of Barcelona and graduated in Architecture in 1999. He received an honorable mention at the Europan 6 architecture competition in 2001. From 2005 to 2013 he taught Interior Design at the Scuola del Design of the Politecnico di Milano. He was Director of the Order of Architects PPC in Milan from 2013 to 2017.

Barovier&Toso

Barovier & Toso is a Murano glass company. The Barovier family's entrepreneurial activity began in the mid-13th century, making it the sixth oldest family business in the world still in business today. The Fratelli Barovier firm was refounded in 1878 by Benvenuto and Giuseppe Barovier, thus becoming Artisti Barovier. At the beginning of the 20th century the company embarked on a period rich in innovation, introducing many important developments in the field of glass production. In 1926 Ercole Barovier, Benvenuto's son, took over as artistic director of the company, which in 1942, joint with the F.lli Toso glassworks. Ercole invented the new technique of hot coloring without melting the glass. The company, is still a leader in the production of original Murano glass, and has become synonymous with quality all over the world.
