Opinion Ciatti - Contenitore Gagà Longho Design Palermo

It is the different meaning given to the term gagà in Italian and in French, the two languages he loves, that Maurizio Galante reflected upon in conceiving his Gagà, the collection that includes two sideboards, characterised by surfaces that provide a sophisticated pattern of circular mirrors.

Mirrors that enchant, mirrors that give back images that are as mixed up as they are fascinating, in a game of references that does not go unnoticed nor does it leave one untouched.

The sideboard with doors is made in lacquered mdf and is entirely coated with a thin layer of glossy stainless steel. The interior, that hosts two crystal shelves, can be painted in one of the 213 colours of the RAL Classic folder, to “build” the Gagà that suits you best.

Same finishes and materials for the lower version composed by of three separate spaces, two compartments with a crystal shelf each and a drawer.

With its strong personality, it is an ideal container for a living room, but also for a bedroom with the intention to astonish.

Maurizio Galante

In 2003 designer Maurizio Galante teamed up with trend forecast analyst and designer Tal Lancman, to form INTERWARE. Their crossover vision transverses the different design disciplines, from fashion to furniture, interiors, lights, food, architecture and gardening. As the duo moves freely between disciplines, they revisit domains equipped with new understandings, insights and observations. The process results in a multi-faceted concept, with a subtle balance between the pragmatic and the irrational. The team follows all steps of design and production, from trend research, to all aspects of marketing, including definition of brand image, strategy, communication, packaging, and presentation.

Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman have curated several design exhibitions, and in 2003 have been assigned design curators for MUDAM, Museum of Modern Art Grand–Duc Jean, Luxembourg, conceptualizing and collaborating on content selection for the museum's store and restaurant, researching and collaborating with artists, designers, and artisans, and developing installations for special events.

Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman have presented their work and installations at MUDAM Museum of Modern Art Grand-Duc Jean, Luxembourg, Fondation Cartier pour l’art Contemporain, Paris, MOMA Museum of Modern Art, New-York, and Pitti Immagine - Palazzo Pitti, Florence.

A retrospective exhibition "Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman, Transversal Design" was presented at Saint Etienne's museum of art and industry, Triennale Design Museum in Milan, Sao Paulo Design Week, Beijing Design Week, and MUDAM, Luxembourg.

Maurizio Galante was born in Latina (Italy) in 1963, Tal Lancman in Tel Aviv, 1962. They both have been living in Paris for many years.

Opinion Ciatti

Opinion Ciatti is a company founded in 1950 in Florence that produces accessories and design furnishing including bookcases, tables and chairs; for the home, work and common spaces. A wide range of concrete and very identifiable objects, able with their presence, their touch, to characterise an atmosphere, personalise an environment. It all begins with an intuition of Rolando Ciatti. As a curious and attentive observer of a world that is changing so fast around him, he understands that a place in the house must be found for that strange, new object – the television - which was about to shake the Italians habit. That’s how Ciatti was founded, in Borgo San Frediano, in Florence Oltrarno, as the first company in Italy to produce TV benches. In 2003  the Ciatti family meets Bruno Rainaldi. Along they found CCR design, a new company focused on the development of home objects and accessories. Under the art direction of Mr Rainaldi, important names in Italian design start creating storage objects, chairs, mirrors, all characterized by a strong and bold personality. In 2004, Original Ptolomeo, the free-standing bookshelf by Bruno Rainaldi, wins the Compasso d’Oro award. Basic but revolutionary, new and with a great impact, as sudden as an intuition; Ptolomeo soon becomes the company’s best-selling item and an icon of contemporary design.
