Vitra - Polder Compact sofa

Designed by Hella Jongerius in a range of fabrics and skilfully coordinated shades and textures, the Polder Compact sofa creates a focal point in any environment. It is available in shades of green, red, night blue and golden yellow and is also suitable for small apartments thanks to its compact size.Inspired by the native village of Hella Jongerius, The Netherlands, the name Polder Sofa refers to a characteristic element of the Dutch landscape. A polder is a low plot of land, taken from the sea. The Polder Sofa catches all eyes, no matter where it is: its asymmetrical shape and the version of the seat and back cushions in different fabrics and colors make it an icon with a strong character. The large seat cushions of Polder Compact form an extremely comfortable asymmetric seat surface, flanked by the padded shell on both sides. The shape of the shell is the only element that distinguishes between the two sofas: a low armrest is integrated at one end of the Polder Sofa, while the other end is bordered by an attached platform that also serves as a support surface for magazines, books or trays. Therefore, the seat surface of the Polder Compact is framed by two armrests of different heights that reduce the overall width of the sofa. The higher armrest allows you to sit comfortably in a transverse position to read or watch television.
