Horm - Billie 90 modular sofa
The aluminium frame (horm patent), lightweight and ecological, on which all the upholstered elements are inserted, is the distinctive feature and the common denominator of the collection, expression of the high sartorial craftsmanship of Made in Italy. The various types of seat and padding at different heights are designed to ensure maximum comfort. Billie has a single large seat cushion, with a hidden aluminum foot, and is available in two depths: 90 or 105 cm.
At the Salone del Mobile 2019, HORM presents the JAZZ collection designed by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba: five modular sofa systems, the embryo of the new upholstered division of the award-winning Italian brand.
The fascinating project was born from Horm’s desire to expand the product offer towards total living solutions, while expressing the company’s philosophy of innovation and design.
The basic thought of the designers was to reduce the technical structure of each upholstered item to a common denominator and then to decline it in its aesthetic part.
The result is an aluminium frame, extremely evolved and highly technical, composed of die-cast and extruded elements, which stands out from the traditional sofa proposals because it replaces the usual wooden structure with a totally aluminium structure, above which all the padded elements can be connected with bayonet coupling systems. The same belt system of the seats was designed directly on the supporting structure.
And it is precisely this frame, the result of two years of intense collaboration with Horm, the distinctive feature not only technical but also aesthetic of the Jazz Collection, composed of five families of upholstered: Miles, Dizzy, Ellington, Billie, Coleman.
The reference to jazz music, and its great masters, fully expresses the philosophy of the collection, capable of endless variations on a single theme. The high sartorial craftsmanship of Made in Italy, the various depths and types of seat and the wise use of materials all become interpreters of the different contemporary sensibilities, presenting flashes of eclecticism especially in the details and in the new collection of fabrics and leathers, carefully selected by designers.
From an almost classic sobriety for Ellington, through a swing vision with Coleman, to a minimalist and bebop rigor for the lines Billie, Miles and Dizzy.
To give the upholstered furniture more freedom of customization and for the peculiar will and attitude of designers to make the world of living dynamic and oriented to comfort, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba have designed a series of complements closely related to the HORM stylistics. Space therefore to the iconic details of the Ripples bench and Leon sideboard, but also to the geometries and organic shapes for the line of new Charleston and Ragtime coffee tables.
Ludovuca+Roberto Palomba
Ludovica + Roberto Palomba; Their is a bold design, without inconsistencies, equidistant from the excess of decoration and radical minimalism. Their design which aims to bring the greatest number of people together, originates from their research, mostly focused on industrial products and mass production, for a more democratic view. However, they has also explored that part of the artisan tradition that can preserve and transmit the culture of Italian know-how, confirming the dualistic and curious nature of their style. Their products are create to last, not only in the market but especially as silent and faithful companions in the lives of the people who choose them. This is the key of their success, the ability to offer lasting happiness and well-being in daily life in a world that screams and desperately seeks to be recognized.
