Minotti - Horizonte modular sofa

A floating island with square lines that marks the horizon of the living space. The new system takes shape from a suspended base. A solid thin line covered in leather, fabric or both covers, on which generous volumetric padding rests. Perfectly consistent with the design philosophy of Marcio Kogan, the Horizonte modular seating system is born from a clear architectural vision: a rigorous stretch, raised seven centimeters from the ground thanks to a back base in matt black painted metal, which gives the sofa a special feeling of suspension. A platform on which are placed the upholstered elements (seats, backs and armrests) all conceived as large cushions with strong proportions and a strong personality.

Not only the dimensions characterize these modules, but also their unprecedented softness, able to maintain a precise formal aesthetic, despite the welcoming lunge. The comfort is guaranteed by an innovative technology, which sees the use of pocket springs inserted in variable density polyurethanes. These allow you to keep the memory of the shapes and return the seat in order, shaping depending on who welcomes.

The base on which the padded volumes rest is made through a skilful combination of materials. Totally in leather or fabric or in an original mix of both to create an even more refined and valuable aesthetic. In the presence of fabric, the two bands are coupled thanks to a zip, hidden by a crease seam, conceived as an aesthetic motif that allows at the same time a practical and quick removal. With the base entirely covered in leather, the workmanship is a folder: refined and inspired by the world of haute couture. This process ensures that the leather bands are sewn together through webbing.

The seemingly simple appearance of Horizonte gives rise to a sophisticated language that can be infinitely declined by combining modules, inclined elements and equipped with integrated coffee table.

Marcio Konan / Studio mk27

The collaboration between Minotti and Marcio Kogan, a Brazilian architect, began in 2017.  Marcio Kogan approaches the world of architecture and founds the studio mk27 in São Paulo in the late 70s: a cosmopolitan team composed to date of more than thirty architects, great admirers of Brazilian modernism. Volcanic and rigorous, Attentive to pure volumes and simplicity of shapes, as well as details and finishes, Kogan prefers open square architectures - in aesthetic and stylistic continuity between in and out - characterized by full-wall windows that cancel the break with the outside.

With a design language inspired by nature, the warm and clear woods of his land, as well as the clean lines of his architectural works, in 2018 he developed the Quadrado seating system for Minotti. A modular program, essential in volumes and materials, in the name of lightness and almost floating design of the bases. An articulated project designed to furnish open-air spaces, even of important dimensions, to be lived in total relaxation.

On the occasion of the 2020 Collection, Marcio Kogan strengthens the creative partnership with Minotti and compares for the first time with three interior design projects: the Daiki armchairs (also in the outdoor version next to the dining chairs)the Boteco family of containers and Linha tables and coffee tables.  Projects that reaffirm the traits of an essential style, defined by rigorous lines and shapes that, at the same time, express a sophisticated search for quality finishes and materials.
