D’Urbino & Lomazzi
Donato D'Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi have been working together since 1966 in the design of architectures, objects, installations, furnishings and urban planning. They collaborated with the architect Jonathan De Pas from the beginning of their activity until 1991 (the year in which De Pas passed away). In the 1960s they developed with particular interest the activity of creating temporary furniture and architecture characterized by the use of advanced industrial materials and technologies. They designed a series of pneumatic housing structures for the Italian pavilion at the World Expo of Osaka and for the XIV Triennale of Milan and, in 1967, the inflatable chair Blow.
Tonelli
Founded in the 1980s out of a deep passion for research and experimentation, Tonelli is a reference in the world of design. The company specializes in the production of glass furniture and accessories. The philosophy is based on the combination of tradition and innovation, indispensable elements that, combined with a passion for the material, help promote the culture of glass. Traditionally, resistant, ecological and fascinating, glass is the element that has belonged to human history for more than five thousand years. Tonelli has inherited this timeless knowledge, reinterpreted it in a modern key and contributed to make it the protagonist of today's furniture. The company has, indeed, drawn from the ancient Italian glassmaking tradition, an artistic-cultural heritage of inestimable value that Tonelli still preserves and protects today, entrusting the complex processing of glass to the hands of expert craftsmen. Tonelli is distinguished by its natural ability to innovate itself and innovate, driven by a constant evolutionary tension, It also experiments with new forms of creativity, investigating new ways of living and always and constantly directing significant investments in Research & Development.
Thanks to the company, the furniture industry has been revolutionized by introducing a new welding technique for flat crystal sheets in the 1980s. Indeed, they use a structural adhesive that allows the welded parts to retain transparency and increase the strength of the joint itself.
Over the years, the process has become increasingly refined, reaching very high quality standards. This has not stopped the evolution of the brand, which today is no longer just a manufacturer of furniture accessories but offers cutting-edge solutions to furnish any type of environment.
