SPOOL gives life to a new, vibrant story composed of weaves and attractive shadow effects created by the light that filters from the sections of the backrest: the result is a collection with an explosive design, a perfect balance between strength and lightness that doesn’t neglect the comfort of the seating that can accommodate a large number of soft cushions.
In addition to the two variants of backrest in rope or padded tubular, there is also a version made with the elegant and soft Batyline upholstery, enveloping and sober, available in a wide palette of tones.
SPOOL is composed of two- and three- seater sofas, a lounge chair and low tables available in two sizes, with a stainless steel powder coated structure in smoke or milk color, and a top in stone or grey gres.
Undisputed protagonist of outdoor furniture, this collection can color any exterior space thanks to the several variants and combinations available, also leaving space for a great personalization.
Rodolfo Dordoni
Rodolfo Dordoni was born in Milan in 1954 where he graduated in architecture in 1979. From 1979 to 1989 he was the Head of art direction and coordination of the corporate image for Cappellini International. It has a wide collection of product design types including lamps and furniture, kitchens, bathroom accessories, objects and rugs. He also was the Head of art direction of Artemide, Cappellini (from 1979 to 1989), Fontana Arte, Foscarini (lamps), Minotti (since 1998) and Roda (since 2006). Today, he is working for several brands including: Artemide, Cassina, Driade, Emu, Ernestomeda, Fiam, Flos, Flou, Fontana Arte, Foscarini, Minotti, Molteni, Moroso, Roda, Venini and many others. He founded Dordoni Architetti in collaboration with the architects Alessandro Acerbi and Luca Zaniboni. Since he has worked in his studio for many years, they focused their work on both architectural design and interior design. They also designed worldwide houses and residential buildings, industrial and commercial areas such as offices, shops and showrooms, restaurants, hotels, as well as many exhibition stands for several companies in several sectors.
Roda opens a new era in the outdoor furniture field, a more contemporary dimension of living that goes beyond the borders of the home: indoor and outdoor mingle with a harmonic language, in a spatial and conceptual continuum. The company’s founder, Roberto Pompa, followed his revolutionary intuition to realized outdoor as places to be lived and enhance with refined pieces of furniture. The company’s name speaks of people and loved ones: RODA is an acronym of the names of Pompa’s family – RO for Roberto and his wife Rosaria, DA for their children Daniele and Davide. The vision and ambition held at RODA gradually became a process. This was a decade of great importance, focused on the cultural enhancement and ennoblement of a new type of outdoor furniture. In order to encompass design, a sense of conviviality, and the kind of emotions given by interiors, Rodolfo Dordoni was selected by the team as an artistic director. In 2005, RODA participated for the first time at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, while its innovative catalogue featured a clear overview of the company’s original approach to outdoor living. The fair and the catalogue were turning points that led to the global confirmation of the success of the strategy, the product, and the unusual, sophisticated combinations of materials and colours.
