Catellani&Smith - Syphaduepassi floor lamp h75

Enzo Catellani has designed his first collection of outdoor lights for Catellani & Smith in response to the trend that, over the years, has seen living spaces move outside into terraces and gardens, creating extensions of the house. Enzo Catellani’s main goal was to create a collection of indoor lamps suitable for outdoor installation; lighting fixtures created for the outside, but able to recreate the same warmth and atmosphere as indoor lights. Glass plays a starring role in this collection. This is how were developed Syphasera, Syphasfera –  both lamps created by the designer Maurizio Quargnale in cooperation with Catellani & Smith – and Syphaduepassi, which, thanks to their minimal design, integrate perfectly with the surrounding environment, as if they were part of nature itself.

Enzo Catellani

Enzo Catellani was born in Zibello (Parma) in 1950 and began his experience in the world of light in the late 1970s, taking over a lamp store in the Bergamo area, which gave him the  prompt  to start designing his handcrafted lamps. His lamps are true sculptures of light, characterized by increasingly precious finishes. For his products he exploits elementary forms, readily available materials and intuitive creations. The best light sources and the cutting-edge technology that accompanies them blend with a design to Italian craftsmanship. "Put your soul into it. This is the basic rule I set in everything I do and have instilled in the people who work with me."

Catellani&Smith

Catellani&Smith is an Italian company that works in the lighting sector and specializes in the production of lamps. A company founded in 1989 both by the tenacity and imagination of its founder Enzo Catellani and  blacksmith Logan Smith, known for its careful and unique craftsmanship. Catellani & Smith company, which — thanks to a combination of creativity and determination, and the input of an excellent team — led to prestigious successes both in Europe and around the world. The company’s unique production system and the particular nature of their facilities have made Castellani & Smith a favourite of designers and clients worldwide. In the following years, other collections were made, including "Luci d'oro," "Stchu-Moon," "PostKrisi" and "Sorry Giotto," which were used in several spaces, such as in the Dilmos showroom in Milan, during the O' Scià event in Lampedusa and in the outdoor gardens of the Milan Triennale. For almost 30 years, they have been making handcrafted Made in Italy lamps that redefine the concept of space lighting.
