Gardeco - To articulate Sculpture
The sculpture Storm, by the Belgian sculptor Cornelius Vandeputte, is a concretization of emotions in the making. At first glance, the viewer can observe an expression of virile anger. Looking closer, you can see a smoother side of the sculpture, which expresses calm, like calm after a storm. The sculpture represents the hardness of the human body on the outside and the vulnerability of the mind on the inside.
Cornelio Vandeputte
The Belgian artist Cornelius Vandeputte (1969) began his artistic career at a very young age in theatre. Later he attended the state ballet school in Antwerp. Due to physical problems, Cornelius had to abandon his career as a dancer and change career. Worked in the film industry in the UK, after which he also developed an interest in the world of wine and worked as a wine consultant. After many years living and working abroad, the designer decided to return to his roots and moved to Belgium. Cornelius then began a new chapter in his life, entering the academy of arts in the city of Ieper to study sculpture. He skillfully interweaves dance and sculpture. Cornelius aims to push the limits of the material and uses forms that evoke movement and tension and that convey emotion.
The Belgian company was founded in 1999, with a mission to spread new ideas and perspectives through works of art with strong decorative power. All Gardeco sculptures are handcrafted by skilled artisans, thus conveying a strong sense of authenticity. Gardeco could be considered an art publisher that represents artists and craftsmen. It’s where new ideas in art meet high-end decoration. A handcrafted and low technology-based production brings on a variation in all shapes and colours, and thereby a strong sense of authenticity to all of our products. Each mould in which our products are made, is made by hand, as well as the final refining details of each product.
