Jean–Marie Massaud
Since the beginning of his career, Jean-Marie Massaud has worked on a wide range of works, ranging from architecture to objects, from unique design to serial ones, from the macro environment to micro contexts. Major brands such as Air France, Axor, Mdf Italia, Poltrona Frau or Toyota have stressed its ability to mix comfort and elegance, spirit and tradition, generosity and distinction. Beyond these elegant designs, his search for lightness - in essence - synthesizes three broader interests: individual and collective achievement, economic and industrial efficiency and environmental concerns. "I’m trying to find an honest and generous path with the idea that, somewhere among the difficult economic data, there are users. People." His creations, both speculative and pragmatic, explore this imperative paradigm: reconciling pleasure and responsibility, the individual with the collective.
When asked to imagine a new stadium for the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, he returns with a building in the shape of a cloud and volcano never seen before. Integrated into a vast urban development program that brings together leisure and culture, nature and urbanization, sports enthusiasts and local citizens. Instead of planting a stadium, he proposed an environment. And the initial vision showed a realistic approach: the project came to life in July 2011. More recently, his concept car developed in collaboration with Toyota, has the same goal.
MEWE is a synthesis of economic and ecological concepts, which integrates specific issues for each stakeholder: the user, the industry and the environment. A pioneering multipurpose platform that is a car for people, with a body of expanded polypropylene foam: a great innovation. "When I work on a project, there is always an attempt to renew the topic I am involved in". Another distinctive aspect of its approach.
