Gianfranco Frattini

Gianfranco Frattini, born in 1926, graduated in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano in 1953. Frattini opens his professional studio in Milan, after working in the office of his teacher and mentor Gio Ponti. He collaborates with many companies in the field of furniture and lighting design, including Bernini, Arteluce, Acerbis, Fantoni, Luci, Knoll, Lema and Artemide (so, with Livio Castiglioni, he designs an absolute masterpiece, the historic floor lamp "Boalum"). In 1956 he co-founded the ADI - Association for Industrial Design - and was repeatedly involved in the management of the Milan Triennale. Throughout his career he practiced both industrial design and architecture, focusing mainly on interior design. Over the course of his life he won many awards and received many awards including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro.
