Artemide - Callimaco floor lamp

Callimaco is a floor lamp designed by Ettore Sottsass.
With base and diffuser in painted steel, stem in painted aluminum, handle in polished chromed metal.  Indirect light emission.

Ettore Sottsass

Eclectic and multifaceted figure, difficult to frame according to the canons of an aesthetic. In sixty years of career Ettore Sottsass has been a designer, architect, urban planner, painter, traveller, photographer. His artistic, ethical and existential research brought him into contact with Rationalism, the Concrete Art Movement, Spatialism and Pop culture.
Architect and designer, (Innsbruck, 14 September 1917 - Milan, 31 December 2007). Graduated in architecture at the Polytechnic of Turin in 1939, he began his activity in Milan, where in 1947 he opened his own design studio, a field in which he has worked, almost exclusively, since 1958. Moreover, in these years he began his collaboration with Olivetti (with four typewriters Olivetti obtained the Compasso d'oro in 1970), for which, in 1972, he designed a system of furniture and office equipment, functionally related to the use of the various existing machines.
