Martinelli Luce - Biconica floor lamp black

Floor lamp with indirect light. Printed body in painted resin. Opal white methacrylate diffuser. With light intensity regulator on the cable. Integrated LED light source. Electronic power supply dimmable in the lamp body.
Designed by Elio Martinelli in 1987, the lamp is born from the vacuum generated by a ring of almost tangent circumferences, forming like a channel that puts into communication two worlds: the old and the new millennium. The neoclassical shape allows it to be inserted in any type of environment and its contained dimensions do not cause problems of space for its placement.

Elio Martinelli

Elio Martinelli was born on 19 November 1922 in Lucca and, after studying set design in Florence, he started his career in the family business. He soon discovered his passion for design and began designing lamps for his interior design projects. In 1950 he founded Martinelli Luce, starting the production of lamps in a small workshop. In 1966, thanks to the meeting with Giò Ponti, the company gains international visibility. In the 1960s, Martinelli experimented with the use of methacrylate for his creations. From the 1970s, he focused on new lighting technologies such as halogen lamps and in the 1980s developed a line of technical luminaires. In the following decade, the company expands internationally and specializes in commercial space lighting. Martinelli died in 2004, leaving a legacy in lighting design.

Martinelli Luce

Technological, modular lamps. Dynamic lamps. Essentiality of forms. Research of material or process. Passionate and tenacious experimentation. These are the values that have always distinguished Martinelli Luce. Values rooted in time and still underlying our design philosophy. These are the foundations laid by the company’s founder, the visionary Elio Martinelli.
