Angelo Barovier, in 1966, designed a lamp with ribs that was later taken up, magnified, put under and multiplied, to obtain an object of generous size. The design is characterized by pyramidal lines that suggest a Samurai in a resting position. The Venetian crystal with which it is made is very massive and its execution requires the hand and strength of an experienced master glassmaker.

Barovier & Toso is a Murano glass company. The Barovier family's entrepreneurial activity began in the mid-13th century, making it the sixth oldest family business in the world still in business today. The Fratelli Barovier firm was refounded in 1878 by Benvenuto and Giuseppe Barovier, thus becoming Artisti Barovier. At the beginning of the 20th century the company embarked on a period rich in innovation, introducing many important developments in the field of glass production. In 1926 Ercole Barovier, Benvenuto's son, took over as artistic director of the company, which in 1942, joint with the F.lli Toso glassworks. Ercole invented the new technique of hot coloring without melting the glass. The company, is still a leader in the production of original Murano glass, and has become synonymous with quality all over the world.
