FontanaArte - Flute floor lamp large
A glass cone holds the chromed aluminum reflector, supported by three slender metal rods. Franco Raggi
He graduated in Architecture from Politecnico di Milano in 1969 and in the same year started work for Nizzoli Associati. From 1971 to 1975 he was editor of Casabella magazine and from 1977 to 1981 editor in chief of Modo design magazine, which he headed until 1983. He has designed architectures, layouts, exhibitions, books, scenery, rooms and articles for famous international design companies. He has a longstanding partnership with FontanaArte, in the early eighties, under the artistic direction of Gae Aulenti, with Daniela Puppa he designed the layouts for events starring the company. He taught at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Pescara and at the IED in Milan where he directed the Department of Architecture until 2000. Since 2001 he has held a course in Interior Design at the ISIA in Florence. As an author he has participated in numerous exhibitions and has held conferences and seminars around the world. His works are present in the permanent collections of the FRAC museum in Orleans, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and the Triennale in Milan.
FontanaArte
Fontana Arte specializes in glass processing and the manufacture of furnishing accessories. Founded in 1881 in Milan by Luigi Fontana, it began as an industry producing glass sheets for building purposes. It had Giò Ponti, Pietro Chiesa and Max Ingrand as artistic directors. It gained notoriety especially for its processing of curved crystal and production of lighting applies. Lighting is also design; numerous brands make it possible to combine functionality with aesthetics, making lamps, wall sconces, and spotlights true pieces of furniture. Among them is FontanArte, which has marked the history of lighting design. In over than 80 years of activity, the brand has received numerous awards, including the Compasso d'oro Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998, given by the ADI - Association for Industrial Design: "thanks to the collaboration with different designers, has been able to create a lively creative climate that has upgraded one of the historical names of Italian design."
