Alessi - 5070 condiment set

Designed by Ettore Sottsass, the condiment set “5070” - oil, vinegar, salt and pepper - has become, thanks to its aesthetic and functional qualities, a true “industrialstandard”. It lets you carry four condiments in a single motion; it is robust to the point of being virtually indestructible and is easy to clean. And last but not least, its form perfectly symbolises the gesture of offering.

Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass is an eclectic and multifaceted figure, difficult to frame according to the canons of an aesthetic. In sixty years of career Ettore Sottsass has been a designer, architect, urban planner, painter, traveller, photographer.
His artistic, ethical and existential research brought him into contact with Rationalism, the Concrete Art Movement, Spatialism and Pop culture.
Architect and designer, (Innsbruck, 14 September 1917 - Milan, 31 December 2007).
Graduated in architecture at the Polytechnic of Turin in 1939, he began his activity in Milan, where in 1947 he opened his own design studio, a field in which he has worked, almost exclusively, since 1958.
Moreover, in these years he began his collaboration with Olivetti (with four typewriters Olivetti obtained the Compasso d'oro in 1970), for which, in 1972, he designed a system of furniture and office equipment, functionally related to the use of the various existing machines.Artist of multiple interests, carries out his research and his experiences in various fields.
