Wiener GTV Design Thonet - Detour coffee table black

The GamFratesi duo has created a new design: DETOUR, the new round coffee table for the living area. Its name signifies a “diversion”, not only in physical terms but also as a metaphor for a change of course. In fact, its legs create a play of lines, just like a diversion, to achieve a more decorative and characteristic signature design. Two Vienna straw shells conceal the wooden tops and lend lightness to the curved beech frame, lacquered black or natural and supported by feet with brass ends.

Studio Gamfratesi was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. The firm is based in Copenhagen. Gamfratesi design draws its creativity from a fusion of tradition and innovation in an experimental approach to the materials and techniques chosen. Each with their own experience, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi draw from the classic Danish furniture style and craftsmanship, as well as a conceptual and intellectual Italian approach. Understanding tradition and actively addressing it to laboratory activities allows its expansion. From this substrate of cultural blends they create a design that respectfully reflects tradition by inserting exclusive stories, symbols and associations expressed in a minimalist way. Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH (GTV) has develop edits work in a successful blend of the traditional and the modern, of continuity and renewal, with a new production program that begins by re-editing a series of Gebrüder Thonet classics. At the same time, GTV stands for contemporary furnishing. Advanced production techniques are applied to innovative designs and uses of materials, to create highly sought-after, multipurpose furnishing items. Truly original, up-to-date solutions that integrate well with the more classic products of its catalogue, now reworked.Items such as chair No. 14, of which more than 50 million were made between 1850 and 1930, have gone down in history for their fine design and manufacturing quality, and yet still today excite and attract new generations.
