Opinion Ciatti - Foliae gold coffee table

Opinion Ciatti - Tavolino Foliae 60 Longho Design Palermo

A coffee table, made by welding small sheets of metal. This is how the projects of the Foliae collection are born, sculptural objects, between art and design, which come to life thanks to the skilful work of expert craftsmen who assemble the pieces of steel, one by one, with meticulous care.

Two little elements designed by Roberto Mora and inspired by observation of the fascinating leaves. The smaller and at the same time more vital parts of the tree, thin and fragile, but at the same time majestic and visible, they represent a distinctive feature of the tree itself if grouped in a thick and luxuriant foliage.

The Foliae collection is based on this concept; many small leaves joint together to create life, in a succession of empty and full spaces, to complements with a strong symbolic character: stool and small table, but also a wall lamp.

These decorative pieces of the Foliae collection, are absolutely expressive and can give an immediate sense of poetry to all the environments in which they are placed. In every room of the house but also in the most refined contract contexts.

Objects of great elegance, thanks to the metallic gold or silver finish, which, like the foliage of the trees, transmit a sense of lightness and solidity.

Roberto Mora

Roberto Mora, born in Parma in 1964, defines himself as a self-taught designer. Painter and Graphic at the beginning, in the 90s he approached the world of Design where he discovered his passion for iron, from the most diverse forms and origins. He started with the creation of "unique pieces": objects and sculptures between function and dystrophies of the form. Unrefined shapes that tend to become lighter over the years. Lightness, transparency, reinterpretation and humor often characterise his most recent works. Mora likes to consider himself as an atypical designer, distant from the logic of large-scale production. He prefers small numbered productions to exhibit in international design events or in private Italian and foreign collections.

In 2004 he took part in the "Radical Design" exhibition curated by Gianni Pettena. The journey documents the evolution of design from the 60s to nowadays, where Roberto Mora is considered as a representative of the last generation of self-producing designers, along with a few other names including, among others, the Campana Brothers. In 2005 he was invited by Alessandro Mendini to be part of the international exhibition "Art of Italian Design”. Also, in 2010 Mendini chooses him for "Quali cose siamo", a project hosted for over a year by the Triennale di Milano. Always present in Milan, he has exhibited in Athens, Paris, Moscow and New York.

Opinion Ciatti

Opinion Ciatti is a company founded in 1950 in Florence that produces accessories and design furnishing including bookcases, tables and chairs; for the home, work and common spaces. A wide range of concrete and very identifiable objects, able with their presence, their touch, to characterise an atmosphere, personalise an environment. It all begins with an intuition of Rolando Ciatti. As a curious and attentive observer of a world that is changing so fast around him, he understands that a place in the house must be found for that strange, new object – the television - which was about to shake the Italians habit. That’s how Ciatti was founded, in Borgo San Frediano, in Florence Oltrarno, as the first company in Italy to produce TV benches. In 2003  the Ciatti family meets Bruno Rainaldi. Along they found CCR design, a new company focused on the development of home objects and accessories. Under the art direction of Mr Rainaldi, important names in Italian design start creating storage objects, chairs, mirrors, all characterized by a strong and bold personality. In 2004, Original Ptolomeo, the free-standing bookshelf by Bruno Rainaldi, wins the Compasso d’Oro award. Basic but revolutionary, new and with a great impact, as sudden as an intuition; Ptolomeo soon becomes the company’s best-selling item and an icon of contemporary design.
