The Ripples bench by Toyo Ito, winner of the Compasso d'Oro 2004, has given rise to a collection composed of different furnishing accessories. One of them is the Bifronte coffee table, in which a small portion of Ripples is framed in an extra clear glass bridge, giving the feeling that it floats in the air. Bifronte can also become a bedside table thanks to the addition of a large drawer on wheels, equipped with a white lacquered front and one in Canaletto walnut, to adapt to the colors of the sleeping area.
After graduating from Tokyo University in 1965, in 1971 he founded his own studio Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects. He has received numerous awards, including the Golden Lion of the International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, the Royal Gold Medal of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Pritzker Architecture Prize. In the 70s, he tried to erase the conventional meaning of his works through minimalist tactics, to then develop a lightness in an architecture that resembles air and wind.
