Opinion Ciatti - Mammamia chair

Opinion Ciatti - Sedia Mammamia Longho Design Palermo

One, one hundred, one thousand Mammamia! You could very well say that when you realize the surprising versatility of this chair collection by Marcello Ziliani that embraces countless combinations and variants: stackable or non-stackable, with or without armrests, hard or upholstered.

With its distinctive young and informal design, and its soft and sinuous lines, Mammamia has an ergonomic and welcoming seat and a light structure, features that provide the chair with a balanced, pleasant and enticing look.
Glossy or matt, textured or rich, minimalist or decorated. It can be covered with light leaves – gold, silver, copper  – hand-polished in the mirror version, cladded with finish that recalls materials like concrete and bronze, or give shimmering glows thanks to the new metallic gold and silver coatings.

The seat also comes in soft upholstered versions with fabrics or leather, for an elegance that is second to none.
A never-ending range of choices for this chair with a die-cast aluminium shell and steel structure, that has no intention of stopping surprising!

Thanks to its almost infinite versions, it suits any indoor or covered outdoor environment. From the most contemporary and minimalist to the most traditional and refined Mammamia is always the perfect choice.

Marcello Ziliani

Marcello Ziliani was born in Brescia in 1963 under the sign of Pisces.

He graduated in architecture at Politecnico di Milano in 1988 with Achille Castiglioni as speaker (and teacher unmatched).

After three years abroad, he returned to Italy and he devoted himself mainly to developing projects for the design of furniture, complement, lighting, bathroom, office, objects and early childhood, working in addition to exhibitions, theatrical scenographer, art direction, design coordination, graphics and communication.

He doesn’t like the absolutism and the indestructible certainties, he loves to look at things with always different eyes to be in tune with them, he prefers to speak softly and, above all, listen.

He believes that any project is, after all, a desire, a hope of flight and he trust that, despite the great run you can do waving your arms uselessly, sooner or later everyone can have his own ten meters of gliding.

Like “more or less” all the designers he put aside the minimum necessary equipment of prizes and awards, he served on juries, he took part in exhibitions and he has been giving lectures and workshops.

He has been a professor of product design at the University of San Marino / IUAV since 2011.

Opinion Ciatti

Opinion Ciatti is a company founded in 1950 in Florence that produces accessories and design furnishing including bookcases, tables and chairs; for the home, work and common spaces. A wide range of concrete and very identifiable objects, able with their presence, their touch, to characterise an atmosphere, personalise an environment. It all begins with an intuition of Rolando Ciatti. As a curious and attentive observer of a world that is changing so fast around him, he understands that a place in the house must be found for that strange, new object – the television - which was about to shake the Italians habit. That’s how Ciatti was founded, in Borgo San Frediano, in Florence Oltrarno, as the first company in Italy to produce TV benches. In 2003  the Ciatti family meets Bruno Rainaldi. Along they found CCR design, a new company focused on the development of home objects and accessories. Under the art direction of Mr Rainaldi, important names in Italian design start creating storage objects, chairs, mirrors, all characterized by a strong and bold personality. In 2004, Original Ptolomeo, the free-standing bookshelf by Bruno Rainaldi, wins the Compasso d’Oro award. Basic but revolutionary, new and with a great impact, as sudden as an intuition; Ptolomeo soon becomes the company’s best-selling item and an icon of contemporary design.
