The Belleville Armchair consists of two components: a structural frame and a seat shell. The elegant structural frame forms the calligraphic lines of the legs and back of the chair. The thin seat shell tapers upwards from the seat to the back.

Belleville is the name of the vibrant Paris neighbourhood where the designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have their studio. Although, at first glance, the shape of the seat, familiar even in a contemporary context, could perhaps be taken for granted, it also evokes a sense of mystery and bewilderment, since the La Belleville Chair is a plastic chair, technically sophisticated, consisting of two components: a metal frame and a seat shell. Tracing the calligraphic lines of the legs and backrest, the linear black frame supports a thin shell that tapers from the large seating area towards the narrow backrest. This type of construction opens new perspectives for the plastic seat with respect to the composition of the materials: the identity of the Belleville Chair is defined by the shell. Available in coloured polypropylene or moulded veneered plywood, the Belleville Chair can take the form of a plastic seat or a wooden seat. It is also available in an armchair version, with armrests tilted forward.
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
Formal perfection, clear lines and creative freedom, these are Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's magic formula. Born respectively in 1971 and 1976, they both graduated in Art and in the late 1990s founded their own studio. After being noticed by Giulio Cappellini and receiving their first industrial design commissions, the brothers established themselves on the international scene thanks to a collaboration with Vitra. Bouroullec brothers work for some of the most important international design brands such as Ligne Roset , Flos, Magis, and are able to join essential shapes with innovative materials and environmentally friendly manufacturing. This allowed them to win, among other prizes, the prestigious Wallpaper* Design Award 2016 in the category "Best Designers of the Year".
