Maxalto was founded in 1975 as a company alongside B&B Italia, defining its own precise identity in the specialized production of highly handcrafted furniture. Seeking the highest quality in terms of materials and workmanship is the goal of excellence stated right from the name: Indeed,Maxalto coming from the Venetian dialect terms "massa alto," meaning "the highest." Maxalto is recognised worldwide for its unique way of balancing tradition and innovation, as well as its distinctive and beautiful use of high-quality materials, especially wood, of which Afra and Tobia Scarpa have been the interpreters, making wood the protagonist by designing a series of wooden furniture.Since 1993, the Maxalto collections have been overseen by architect Antonio Citterio, who has continually expanded the product series so that it now incorporates whole living room and bedroom ranges.
