“Why should bookcases always be straight, long, vertical, right-angle planes to keep nothing but books perfectly straight and composed? And don’t we like to keep a few small objects, keepsakes, some useless artefacts from fundamental phases of our existence, among the books?” Available in free-standing and wall-mounted versions, Existence arose as an overlapping of small, varied boxes, like the experiences and keys to one’s life: a totem-bookshelf designed to contain books and objects in a single space, built around similar modules that repeat, though the same form never appears twice.

Michele De Lucchi

One of the leading exponents of architecture and contemporary design, De Lucchi is famous worldwide for his innovative products, so much so that one of his most famous works, the Tolomeo lamp, is still one of the best-selling lamps in the world. Architect Michele De Lucchi was born in Ferrara in 1951. After graduating in architecture in Florence became an assistant in the Faculty. In those years he collaborated with Adolfo Natalini and founded the Cavart group, a cultural project inspired by the ideals of radical design. In the 1980s, Michele De Lucchi in Milan met Ettore Sottsass and became part of the Memphis Group and later approached the world of Olivetti, with which he collaborated until 2002, getting closer to the world of product design. In 1990, De Lucchi founded Produzione Privata, his experimental workshop where he used artisanal techniques to create products free from commissioning, created to give continuity to the Memphis Group. Michele De Lucchi has received numerous awards during his career, including the Compasso d'Oro Prize, the honor of Officer of the Republic in 2000, and an honorary degree from Kingston University in 2006. Since 2008, Michele De Lucchi has been teaching at the Politecnico di Milano Faculty of Design, and between 2017 and 2018 he was the editor of Domus magazine founded by Gio Ponti.

De Castelli was founded in 2003, but rests its foundations on the experience of four generations of ironworking masters. It overcomes the classic conception of metal, understood as a "cold" material and relegated to the margins of design, and begins to produce objects in series, but at the same time unique, as the result of a cultural path that is renewed each time in an unrepeatable way. De Castelli's continued rise is evidenced by the many partnerships the Italian company has forged with the most renowned brands on the international scene. Such as the collaboration with Maserati, on the occasion of the 89th edition of the Geneva Motor Show, for which De Castelli clad the dashboards for the interior of the Quattroporte SQ4 Granlusso.
