Opinion Ciatti - Libreria Pacifico Kit Shelf B Longho Design Palermo

A paradox that takes shape: a wall that, instead of dividing, unites thanks to the power of knowledge. A wall of books that becomes a bulwark of peace and future. Freely inspired by one of the symbolic images of Kiev, Pacifico is the library designed by Lapo Ciatti, a wall made of books that lies on the wall and that, metaphorically, becomes a meeting point and comparison of culture and knowledge.

A piece of furniture whose name also recalls historical roots: Pacifico is in fact the figure that in the Carolingian era played a large part in the development of the Capitol Library of Verona, the oldest library in the western world still in operation today.

A common thread that ideally unites the Pacific to Ptolomeo: a tribute to those who were the creators of culture. Both Ptolomeo I Sotere - from which the iconic Ptolomeo collection - and Pacifico are in fact two illustrious people who have contributed to the spread of knowledge and to whom Opinion Ciatti wants to pay tribute with its products.

Pacifico steel wall bookcase stands out for its modularity. It is available in four configurations that can be combined in infinite compositions according to the needs of each project. The design of the Pacifico bookcase is as essential as it is studied in detail: it consists of two vertical steel uprights fixed to the wall that accommodate according to the different versions shelves, bookends but also a desk shelf that makes this bookcase the ideal element for a functional home office corner.

A piece of furniture that integrates with the surrounding space without sacrificing its great communicative power.

Lapo Ciatti

Born in Florence in 1980, after his studies in Industrial Design at the Domus Academy in Milan, he began working at some of the most prestigious architectural studios in Florence, Milan and London. Determined to embark on an entrepreneurial path, before entering the family business he forms abroad, experience that will allow him to develop a multifaceted vision and open to contamination and a strong ability to grasp future trends.

Since 2011 he is CEO and Art Director of Opinion Ciatti. Deeply linked to his native Tuscany, he transformed this love for his land into a source of privileged inspiration for the productions of Opinion Ciatti. This is how the #FollowYourRoots collections were born, a journey through time in search of their roots to give meaning to what we are and breathe today. The union between present and past, the hashtag of communication 2.0, before those roots, to rediscover, fil rouge that unites proposals for living in the third millennium.

Opinion Ciatti

Opinion Ciatti is a company founded in 1950 in Florence that produces accessories and design furnishing including bookcases, tables and chairs; for the home, work and common spaces. A wide range of concrete and very identifiable objects, able with their presence, their touch, to characterise an atmosphere, personalise an environment. It all begins with an intuition of Rolando Ciatti. As a curious and attentive observer of a world that is changing so fast around him, he understands that a place in the house must be found for that strange, new object – the television - which was about to shake the Italians habit. That’s how Ciatti was founded, in Borgo San Frediano, in Florence Oltrarno, as the first company in Italy to produce TV benches. In 2003  the Ciatti family meets Bruno Rainaldi. Along they found CCR design, a new company focused on the development of home objects and accessories. Under the art direction of Mr Rainaldi, important names in Italian design start creating storage objects, chairs, mirrors, all characterized by a strong and bold personality. In 2004, Original Ptolomeo, the free-standing bookshelf by Bruno Rainaldi, wins the Compasso d’Oro award. Basic but revolutionary, new and with a great impact, as sudden as an intuition; Ptolomeo soon becomes the company’s best-selling item and an icon of contemporary design.
