Follia is an armchair, made by Giuseppe Terragni, with black seat and back while the support crossbows, back, are in stainless steel.
Zanotta – Follia armchair
Italian architecture in the twentieth century had some great masters. The most loved by critics and the most studied by the great theorists remains Giuseppe Terragni. Enfant prodige, who already around thirty years had realized his most important projects, such as the absolute House of the Beam of Como. He also elaborated some furnishing objects, such as a chair (Lariana) and an armchair (Sant'Elia) always characterized by the same, original idea: to clearly detach the back from the seat, working on the elasticity and therefore on the comfort of the two elements, obtained by exploiting the bending of the tubular metal used in the structure.
Giuseppe Terragni
Born in Meda (MB) in 1904, he graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano and in 1926 participated in the foundation of the "Gruppo dei Sette", signing with other architects the first document of Italian Rationalism.
In 1928 he participated in the first Exhibition of Rational Architecture in Rome, presenting projects with strong references to constructivism and futurism. Also engaged as a painter, he followed in 1932 the "Exhibition of the Fascist Revolution". Futurism, constructivism and rationalism are the coordinates within which its architecture moves, of which the House of the Beam of Como (1932-36) is one of the most mature examples.
In 1930 he created with Lingeri for the "Sala per la visione dei modelli" at the IV Biennale di Monza, a piece of furniture that heralds the interest in formal and structural solutions that allow mass production. In 1937, with Lingeri and Cattaneo, he designed the project for the Palazzo dei Congressi at the EUR in Rome. Of those same years is the Asylum Sant'Elia in Como, commonly considered one of his best works.
He died in 1943 after being repatriated for a serious nervous breakdown.
Zanotta
Founded in 1954, Zanotta is recognized as one of the major protagonists of the history of Italian design. In particular since the 1960s, guided by the intuition and extraordinary entrepreneurial ability of its founder Aurelio Zanotta, conquer the international scene thanks to emblematic products for formal innovation. The technological research supported by the continuous evolution of the quality of materials and production processes is one of the best in the world.
The cultured and precious history of Zanotta is renewed in 2017 in the union with Tecno starting a common project. This implies the consequent strengthening of synergies and commercial strategies at the international level under the guidance of Giuliano Mosconi. It brings irony to the domestic universe, which suggests different ways to feel better in the world of the home, which for the first time has included in its catalog the works of the great masters of design, creating an unparalleled "collection" of masterpieces, awarded and exhibited in the most important design museums.
