Marco Lavit
Atelier LAVIT is an architecture and design studio based in Paris. Architecture and Design move naturally in a parallel conversation, nourished by the photographic experience. Constantly searching for a conceptual essentiality, perpetuating in a timeless creative process.
Born in 1986, Marco Lavit studied architecture at the Ecole Speciale d'Architecture in Paris and at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He graduated from ESA in 2011 with a thesis on sustainable design of wine cellars. His sensitivity towards design takes shape at the studio of the architect and designer Riccardo Blumer. His work at LAN Architecture has further strengthened his architectural vein, with a strong focus on design culture and details.
Marco founded his architecture and design studio, Atelier LAVIT, in Paris in 2014. Since then, the studio has been active in France and Italy. The work of Atelier LAVIT stems from the dialogue with artisans and their savoir-faire, especially Made in Italy. Architecture and design often proceed in parallel, trying to achieve essential forms. This approach results in impromptu production, which does not follow trends, but lets speak the strength of raw materials.
In architecture, the studio prefers the use of wood, often applied to unusual and innovative housing structures in France, Italy and Spain.
He currently teaches architecture at the Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture (ESA) in Paris focusing his studio’s work on small-scale architecture and prefabricated techniques and is a regular guest speaker at congresses and conferences related to this field of research.
