Masanori Umeda

Masanori Umeda is the author closest to the sphere of design, but characterized by strong poetry. He was born in Kanagawa, Japan. He moved to Milan in 1966 where he started working in the studio of the Castiglioni brothers and won the 1st premio Braun. prize. He continued his career at the Olivetti studio with Ettore Sottsass and then joined the radical group Memphis. In 1980 he returned to Japan and founded his own studio in Tokyo: Umeda Design Studio Inc. In 1990 he debuted with Edra producing for the company a few pieces, but of great symbolic value, which embody the Japanese spirit by transmitting the values of elegance and respect.
