Jean Prouvé designed the Lampe de Bureau (1930), a small desk lamp in sheet steel, for the students' homes of the Cité Universitaire in Nancy.
The lamp resembles a sea animal that dances lightly, cradled by a soft brightness, hence the name: Kurage, jellyfish in Japanese.
