AMeBE

Amebe is a Milanese artistic duo composed by Alessandra Mantovani (b. Brianza, 1983) and Eleonora Barbareschi (b. Tradate, 1984).
They met while studying at the European Institute of Design in Milan where they graduated at BA in Industrial Design.

In 2005 they moved to New York, where Barbareschi obtained an MFA in Design and Technology at the Parsons School of Design. The same year the two began their creative collaboration and in 2008 they returned to Milan to found their Design Studio.

Amoeba’s ironic and conceptual projects are inspired by the unique integration of their artistic background with the use of contemporary and cutting-edge technologies. The "strong" of the duo lies in their interdisciplinary approach, which gives AMeBE the opportunity to create with a unique blend of artistic craftsmanship and industrial, digital and aesthetic inventiveness.

Their name, as well as be the acronym of the initials of the founders (A+M & B+E), is inspired by the fascinating organism 'amoeba', characterized by its continuous evolutions.The term Amoeba comes from the ancient Greek meaning change, transformation.
