Issey Miyake

Issey Miyake founded the Miyake Design Studio in 1970 and began presenting collections in Paris in 1973. Miyake’s exploration of the space created between the body and the tissue that surrounds it has evolved, always starting from a single piece of fabric. Miyakeconstantly turned to the future and the next stage of design, whether it is the functional and versatile series "PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE" (1993-) or the series "A-POC" (A Piece of Cloth/ 1998-), which introduced a single process where continuous rolls of fabric, texture and clothing could be made from a single piece of yarn.
Today, Miyake works with his research and development team called Reality Lab to explore new possibilities to do things and build on the distinctive features of "regenerative" materials, ever accurate to the need for research and development of materials that address our depleted natural resources and the environment.
